Brief Description:  3: AoA Head-Up Display

This afternoon I spent a few hours fitting the angle of attack head up display onto the glare shield.

I first fitted the front deck skin (which takes all my 3/32" clecos). Then I put the seats back in and got into the plane so that I could find just the right position. The head-up display is simply a high quality see-through mirror which reflects the AoA display. What that means in practice is the mirror must be angled directly at the pilot, otherwise you will not see the reflected image properly. Bad luck for the passenger as they see nothing!

Anyway, I decided to place the display to the right of the pilot's direct line of vision, which meant it must be installed on an angle. After marking the position I then took the skin off, cut out and smoothed the mounting hole, then fitted the display.

Finally, with the diaplay in place, I clecoed the skin back onto the fuselage.

It looks great. I can't wait to fly with it.
