Back in to aircraft building today after a month off, and was excited to have some avionics that I could install, power up, and play with. My Horis 80mm Primary Flight Display (PFD) from Kanardia turned up a few weeks ago and I've been itching to "touch and feel".
It didn't quite fit into the standard 80mm instrument cut-out, so a little filing and smoothing was required for a nice fit. I then connected up the power, and plugged in the outside air temperature sensor and the GPS antenna, and when I flicked on the switch.....voila......it worked.
I couldn't help myself, so next I spent some time having a play. I set the following: * QNH units (kPa) * Initial airspeed parameters (Vso, Vs, Vne etc) * Load limits for the G-force meter * Brightness * Standard turn rate (2-min turn)
This awesome little instrument will be the standalone back-up to my Dynon Skyview system. If I lost everything else in my plane then I could still fly safely just off this. I love it!
