Today I finished off the two rudder cable fairings, but not before correcting a small error. I originally drilled five rivet holes in each piece, but forgot to realise that the forward most hole I aligned exactly with where the rudder cable will pass underneath. I cannot place a rivet here (it will foul with the rudder cable) so I had to start by first drilling a couple new rivet holes in each fairing piece.
I then match drilled to the fuselage skin and blind riveted in place. I chose to leave a small portion of the nylon rudder cable sheath sticking out from the fairing. This will form part of my pre-flight inspection, to make sure I can see it.
