More firewall rework today. I made up a thin cover plate to go on the inside of the firewall, where the fuel pump doubler plate was fitted previously. This filled up, or covered up, all the holes that were left behind.
I also installed the firewall eyeball fitting for the mixture control cable, in its (hopefully) correct location.
Next up I started looking at the park brake valve that I ordered recently, and found another little Vans Aircraft gem to manage. It would seem that if installing a park brake then the bracket that holds the bulkhead brake line fittings to the firewall is not required.
Awesome....all that work to match drill the bracket to the firewall a few months ago....wasn't necessary. Reading through other builder's logs I note that most people drill out the rivets, remove the original bracket, and make up a new bracket to suit the park brake valve.
I started doing that.
Mixture cable firewall fitting installed, and blanking plate made up.
