Brief Description: Installing the Fuel Pump
|
|
Back into the shed after work tonight for a couple hours, and started on installation of my nice new Andair fuel pump and filter. The Andair website has an excellent set of drawings for download, so I printed these off and set to work.
The standard Vans kit only makes allowance for a carburetted engine, with a low pressure fuel pump. I'm going to be installing a fuel injected engine, which will require a high pressure fuel pump, so therefore the Vans drawings and instructions are no help. Thank you Andair for having available such a good set of drawings specifically for the RV-7/9 aircraft.
The fuel pump mounts on top of the forward centre tunnel cover, as per my first picture below, which requires a few cut-outs to be made in the existing parts. I got these done tonight, as well as drilled the mounting hole locations for the fuel pump, and then re-primed the raw edges.
I left it at that for tonight, and sat back with a can of scotch to admire my overall progress.
