Brief Description: 2: Leading Edge Landing Lights
|
|
After finishing off the left wing, I then started on the same deal for the right wing leading edge landing light.
As I've said before, the second time I do something on this build, it goes so much faster.
I marked out the cut out using the template provided, then, tentatively, put the dremel cutting disk to the wing skin and cut out the opening in the leading edge. I definitely measured twice, measured twice again, and then cut once. After some rough sanding with the cutting tool drill bit, I then smoothed all edges with a file, sandpapaer and scotchbrite pad. The cutout is neat.
I finished the day off by installing the nutplates necessary to hold the light bracket in place inside the wing. No different to the other wing, but still a bugger to do. The outboard rib nutplates are okay, because there's no wing tip in place and I can get to one side very easily. The nutplates on the inboard rib however, well it would be very useful if I had arms that were about two feet longer to make reaching around through lightening holes easier. Anyway, all done now.
