Brief Description:  ADAHRS Mounting Bracket

Thought I'd get a couple hours in tonight on something different, so I started making up a sturdy mounting bracket for my Dynon ADAHRS unit.

This unit will be the heart of the Skyview glass cockpit, and needs to be mounted very carefully. Within 1 degree of the centreline of all three axis, nowhere near magnetic interference, and secure.

I chose to mount it as per my pictures below. I bought some aluminium angle and cut two pieces to span the width of the fuselage in the area immediately behind the baggage area wall. When drilling mounting holes through the longerons I made sure the pieces were exaclty square to the lengthwise centreline by measuring forward from the nearest bulkhead on each side.

The angle had some flex, so I also made up a simple rib to tie both pieces up to the top most fuselage rib. I fixed my homemade rib to the angles first, then by moving it backward and forward at the top end I could also adjust the "pitch" of the two angles so that they were exactly aligned with the longerons (and therefore in alignment with the pitch axis).

I'll finish off tomorrow by making up a tray for the ADAHRS unit. I've got some ideas.
