One of my workmates has his own hobby CNC machine and I asked how he'd go making a neat cut-out in two of my underwing inspection covers. "No problem" he said, "let's give it a go". So today we gave it a go.
Worked a treat.
The pictures below show how the task progressed. Once the CNC had finished I simply made the final cuts on my dremel and smoothed off the sharp edges. The piece came out very nice.
Next he's going to have a go at cutting a perspex piece to fit the opening, with a 15mm recessed lip all round to fix it in place. If this goes to plan then the end result will be a perfectly flush viewing window in my inspection cover.
