Brief Description:  3: Pitot Tube Installation

After finishing off the left wing wiring, I then turned my attention to completion of the Pitot/AoA tube plumbing. I wasn't happy about leaving the fittings "hanging" in mid air, in the vicinity of the aileron pushrod, so decided to make up an angle support bracket as shown below.

I attached this bracket to the spar using a couple of the existing fuel tank attachment bolts, being careful to re-torque to 65 inch-lb when reassembling. I also used a thin washer on each bolt, instead of the normal washer that came off, to make up for (in part) the thickness of my bracket under the bolt head.

The hardest part of this assembly was making up the little clamp that holds the two tubes down. This was quite a task, and could take a full log entry in it's own right to explain. Email me if interested.

Anyway, I am very pleased with how my support bracket turned out. The Pitot/AoA tubes are securely held, and well clear of the pushrod. Objective met.
