Brief Description:  1: Flap and Aileron Fairings

Today (Saturday) actually started last night when I attempted to rivet the left wing inboard aileron hinge bracket in place. I had no end of trouble with one particular rivet location, bending the rivet about four or five times, each time drilling the head off, punching out the deformed rivet shank, and starting again. I couldn't work it out. No matter how much I swore, it just would not play the game. With the rivet still not set, I decided that this must be one of those nights when things just do not go your way, and figured I'd be better off just packing it in and starting again tomorrow.

Well, tommorow (today) came, and I had the aileron bracket riveted in place in about ten minutes flat. Go figure!

Next up I cleco'd the flap fairing in place and set all the exposed rivets. Just as I was pondering how I was going to get a bucking bar onto those rivets that were behind the inboard bottom wing skin, mate Peter Tegen called by to say hello. Perfect timing. Pete was able to get a bucking bar and torch inside the partially assembled QB wing, while I drove the rivets from the outside. Job done.

With the flap fairing in place it was then a straight forward job to fit the aileron fairing.
