Brief Description: Checking inventory and sorting parts
Wow, what a weekend. I spent Friday evening, all day/evening Saturday, and all day Sunday, counting parts, checking them off against the 14-page packing list, and storing away in a safe place. This was a very big job, but well worth the effort as I found I'm missing the fuel selector valve and flap actuator mounting channel. I've sent a message off to Vans, so hopefully they'll come to the party and send the missing pieces. [Update: All good. Vans have been in touch, and the missing parts are on their way]
I also like everything to be organised, neatly, so I resorted my storage shelves and small parts drawers to accomodate all the new hardware...but alas, I quickly ran out of drawers. Not to worry, I've ordered four more 20-drawer storage units for all the nuts, washers, cotter pins, nutplates, screws etc ...... and a couple plastic 18-compartment storage boxes for all the bolts. Gee, it costs a small fortune just to keep all the parts organised!
In addition to counting, sorting and storing, I also started pulling apart the two large timber crates that everything was packaged in. This is a job in itself! I decided to salvage as much timber and plywood as I can....and there's a lot. I'm sure this will prove worthwile when I'm looking for packaging timber to transport my finished pieces to the paint shop at a later date.
