Brief Description:  Riveted ribs to spars & clecoed wing skins

I had a 0900 tour scheduled for the Air Force Museum workshop this morning. Since my garage has been turned into an aircraft factory, the cars are in the driveway and this morning was cold, snowy, and a little miserable. I had to get out early, shovel the snow, clean the car of snow and ice, get the car warmed up and make tracks for the Museum. As it turned out, the powers that be decided to put Wright-Patterson AFB on a two hour delay so the visitors (an Air Force unit) didn't show up for the tour. Times have certainly changed. When I was in the Navy we mustered at 0700 regardless of weather. If the weather was bad, you just had to leave at whatever time necessary to guarantee on-time arrival.

Oh well, it allowed me a few hours of shop time. After the shop warmed up, I set all the rivets attaching the ribs to the rear spar. I set one rivet that should have been left open for the later attachment of the flap brace. I could have left it for later but decided to go ahead and drill it out now. As soon as Connie was available, she came out and bucked all the rivets securing the ribs to the main spar. They turned out quite nice (not a clinched rivet or smiley face in the bunch).

Next item on the agenda was the fabrication and match drilling of the wing walk doubler. Once this component was ready, I began clecoing the wing skins (top and bottom) to the skeleton. I inserted about half the necessary clecos before calling it a day. During the next session I will complete the clecoing of the wing skins and get them match drilled.
