Brief Description:  Final rivets and flap brace

The objective of this shop session was to install the flap brace but before that could be done, it was necessary to set the final five (5) rivets at the root end of the rear spar. These rivets go through the skin, wing walk doubler, and spar. You will see in the first picture below that the shop head side of the rivet is very close to the spar doubler plate and its attaching rivets. I had hoped to squeeze these rivets but the C yokes I have just wouldn't work and I didn't want to grind the nose down on my "holeless" yoke.

In the end, I was able to buck the rivets without too much difficulty with the bar shown below. I had my doubts as to whether the results would be good enough but the rivets turned out just fine. I could have used blind rivets in this area but the solids look better.

The next task was to trim the flap brace per the plans, dress all the edges, deburr, and cleco the brace into place for riveting. The trimming of the brace was accomplished by first using snips and following up with a vixen file and scotchbrite wheel.
