Brief Description:  Sealed fuel tank (access plate & sender)

I installed the tank access plate and fuel sender using the supplied gaskets and an aviation gasket sealant from Permatex (available at the local NAPA store). I replaced the supplied pan head screws with CAP screws having a socket head (Allen wrench compatible). Both sides of the gaskets and contacting surfaces were coated with the sealant and the fasteners tightened evenly.

I know there are numerous opinions on how best to seal the sender and access plate. I decided to try the original method. If the gaskets leak, I can always go back and use the proseal method. I will give the tank another day or so to cure and then comes the leak test.

By the way, you will see the new and as yet unused tube of thread sealant in the picture below. You will note the tube is only half full. When purchased, the tube appears full in the plastic packaging but it really isn't. Rather deceptive marketing I think.
