Brief Description:  Begin fitting canopy skirt - Part 1

The canopy skirt as delivered did not fit well at all. When clecoed in place I had significant gaps at the back and along both sides at the rear. I began the fitting process by marking the desired curve with black electrical tape. Next, I used some stuff called paper clay (a Japanese product for sculpting) to sculpt the desired contour between the skirt and fuselage. This product is much easier to work with than modeling clay, or at least I think so. When it dries it can be sanded so I was able to blend it into the fairing and skin making a surface that glass can be applied over.

On the port side the gap was big enough I had to cut the skirt, push it down against the skin, and then tape it in place. Some glass cloth was added to reattach the skirt pieces. Once the skirt is stabilized I will use the clay to create the desired contour between the skirt and fuselage skin if necessary.
