Brief Description: New tail wheel assembly & canopy latch
Today I installed a second canopy latch about 6-8" back from the canopy roll bar. This allows the canopy to be locked partially open on hot days until takeoff. The forward position lets fresh air in while blocking most of the wind blast from any rear seat passenger.
Decided to take a break from the fiberglass canopy skirts and install a new tail wheel assembly. The new tail wheel assembly consists of a Bell fork and Rocket steering link. These aftermarket components look much nicer than the stock fork and springs. The Bell fork design is also less susceptible to damaging the rear fuselage bulkhead if you inadvertently "hook" it on the edge of a ramp or taxiway.
