Brief Description:  Starboard canopy skirt - Step 2

I applied three strips of 2" masking tape all the way around the base of the canopy and located precisely each rivet/fastener hole already drilled thru the canopy glass and the steel frame. This was initially done by drawing two intersecting lines four inches in length locating each hole at the intersection point. Once the skirt is fitted the lines can be extended onto the skirt and where the lines intersect locates the hidden hole. Later I decided to just draw one four inch line vertically thru the center of the hole and then measure up exactly two inches from the center of the hole and make a mark. Again, once the skirt is in place the unseen hole can be located precisely by laying a ruler along the line and measuring down from the mark exactly 2 inches.

Next step is to drill a 1/16" hole at the marked locations and pray the measurements are perfect. I then expanded the holes to 3/32" with a number 40 drill and inserted a cleco. You will see in the photos that the starboard side skirt is match drilled around the canopy edge. My plan for tomorrow (Wednesday) is to remove the skirt, do some additional trimming, and then see about match drilling all the other frame holes. You can see the entire canopy frame in the third photo. There are rivet holes in the frame about every two inches so the drilling will take some time. It will be tricky locating and matching all those holes to the skirt when they can't be seen. I have a couple ideas in mind for solving that issue.
