Brief Description:  Starboard aileron actuator & prep work

Stopped by Lowes on the way to the hanagr this morning and picked up some foam insulation approximately 5/8" thick. To the foam I later applied two layers of fiberglass cloth to determine how well the resin would stick and how stiff the resulting piece of foam would be. I am thinking of using fiberglass reinforced foam to stiffen the wingtips a bit so this was just an experiment.

Next I adjusted the aileron actuator rod to the current length using the aileron jig tool provided by Van's. All the fuel tank fasteners were installed and tightened.

The NACA vent was riveted on the inside of the starboard inboard skin. Tank sealant was used to seal the NACA vent to the skin. The vent was then primed a second time. The NACA vent was also drilled for the outside air temperature probe.

The bottom skins were test fitted to be sure all the holes and dimples match up for final riveting.
