Brief Description:  Initial installation of fiberglass empennage fairi

I began the day by installing the nutplates on the vertical stab for the fairing attachment. I deviated slightly from the plans at this point by installing my first nutplate a little further forward. I then maintained the recommended 3-4" spacing of the fasteners back to the trailing edge. You will note I have one extra fastener at the extreme aft edge. I think this change results in a better fit of the fiberglass to the vertical stab.

I mounted the vertical and horizontal stabs temporarily so both the fiberglass and metal fairings could be trimmed and fitted. I began by setting the fiberglass component in place and locating the fastener lines. I then measured out 1/2", trimmed, and sanded the fiberglass. The fairing was then repositioned and match drilled to the nutplates in the vertical and horizontal stabs. The aft end of the fairing was trimmed per the plans and sanded smooth.
