Brief Description:  Switch console wiring organization

I spent way to much time today trying to organize the wires that will be connected to the switch circuit breakers. This area is going to be a challenge. Many of the wires are fairly heavy so they will be a little difficult when it comes time to attach to their breakers. It is also a little difficult getting the lengths of each wire just right so they reach the breakers without hanging below the console housing. In my case all this test fitting has to be done without scratching up the interior paint on and around the switch console and that's not so easy.

You will see one set of wires that need improvement. I installed AeroLed nav lights and strobes so there are three separate 3-conductor shielded cables that have to be connected to the nav and strobe breakers. In addtion, one wire from each must be joined to sync the strobes and the shields must be grounded. This makes for a cumbersome bundle. I have some rework to do in this area.

Oh by the way, I plan to locate the cabin heat box on the starboard side of the fuselage rather than where the pre-cut hole is located on the port side. That means the 2" hole has to be covered. I had originally planned to rivet a stainless plate over the hole but got a brainstorm at the last minute. My final solution was a 2" stainless hole cover/plug that I found at McMaster-Carr. Unfortunately, they come in lots of 10 so I have 9 extras looking for a home. Anyway, I am installing a 2" cover on the pre-cut hole and a 1/2" plug where the brake fluid reservoir would go on the std kit. I don't need the hole for the reservoir since I am installing Matco reservoirs at the rudder pedals. I think the stainless plugs look pretty good. I may install them with a lilttle tank sealant just to eliminate any oil or vapor seepage into the forward cockpit area. There are still a couple prepunched holes for fasteners that will have to be sealed with something (maybe a rivet or perhaps a very small hole plug).
