Brief Description:  Gear nuts, motor mount, and miscellaneous

While working in the gear towers I have been thinking about how to make the task of installing and torquing the outboard gear nuts easier. The solution I came up with is shown in the photos below. I bought four stubby box end wrenches, cut and ground them to fit down inside the steel gear weldments. I then epoxied the kit supplied nuts in the "mini-wrenches". These nuts when installed lock up against the weldment and cannot turn. The bolts can be torqued from the outside without a helper.

I also got the motor mount match drilled today. I began by drilling the marked holes at the top of the firewall with a small bit. The mount was hung on the firewall with undersized bolts so the lower marked holes could be checked against the mount. The lower holes weren't perfectly aligned but close enough that when drilled I got a nice round hole. I then drilled the top holes to final size again getting a nice round and snug fitting hole.

Finished some other miscellaneous tasks including reinstallation of the fuel line for the starboard tank and the brake lines inside the gear towers.
