Brief Description:  Completed interior panels and more painting

I made some interior panels earlier to install on the fuselage bulkheads in the mid-section to create some storage compartments for books, charts, etc. I made them from some scrap aluminum sheet but they were relatively thin and I wasn't completely happy with them.

The bottom edge of the panels have a 90 deg flange which adds some strength but the top edge needed something both to stiffen the panel and make the edge a bit thicker for safety and appearance. I solved the problem by getting a piece of 1/8" x 1/2" aluminum stock at the local hardware and riveting a piece lengthwise along the top of each panel. To make the panels a little more attractive and lighten the material I cut some holes in the both panels. I settled on 2" holes for the starboard panel and 1.5" for the port side panel which is narrower.

The new side panels were prepared and primed. The rear seat pan was also painted on the back surfaces (first coat). There are a couple flaws in the initial coat so I plan to touch up in the next day or two. The front surfaces and the entire pilot seat still needs color applied.
