Brief Description: Repaired two Peltor headsets (mic wires)
While out flying recently I noticed a couple problems with two of my Peltor headsets including the one I recently converted to an ANR unit. In both cases the insulation on the wire running from the Mic to the ear cup was showing cracks and the adjustment mechanism allowing the extension/retraction of the Mic boom was missing.
The wire insulation was fixed by desoldering the wire from the ear cup circuit board, installing a piece of heat shrink tubing and resoldering the wires. I new clamping mechanism was fabricated to allow adjustment of the Mic boom. Both of these operations were a bit tedious but the headsets are as good as new.
