After checking a couple builder logs I began the process of cutting and fitting the plexiglass lens on the wing tips. First, I cut the lens material in two equal halves. Next, each lens was taped into place on the wing tip. Using electrical tape I marked the area to cut on each lens. The plan is to cut each lens about 1/8" larger than required and then work it down with sand paper or emery cloth. This is going to be a slow process.
I haven't decided yet how to make the cut. Some say to use snips while others recommend a Dremel tool. The cut I made to form the two halves was done with snips and a fine-toothed hacksaw blade. I plan to wait for a hot day to make the cuts since the cooler the shop, the more brittle the plexiglass.
