Brief Description:  Cockpit panel to hide wiring

I am thinking seriously about installing my headphone jacks for the rear seat in the vertical fuselage rib immediately in front of the starboard armrest. I may also install a 12V power receptacle in the same location. My only concern is whether this location might interfere with some future upholstery work in this same area. I may want to cover the side fuselage skin with some 3/8" foam and fabric just to provide some insulation and sound suppression. Wish the fuselage rib was just a little wider.

I am also planning to install two eyeball lights in the rear cockpit, one on each side, probably in the rear most lightening holes. I found a product offered by both Stein and Aircraft Spruce that should just fit the bill. They come in various colors (light) and I will probably go with green. Unfortunately, they are slightly smaller in diameter than the lightening holes so I will have to fabricate small mounting plates. I will use a small toggle or rocker switch mounted near the headphone jacks to control both rear lights.

The front cockpit will also have a light on each side with a single control switch. They will be the same as those mounted in the rear. I plan to install them in the caps that are riveted between the two center section bulkheads.

In any event, the panel shown below was fabricated and mounted with platenuts to hide any wiring in this area (jacks, power outlet, light, and switch).
