Brief Description:  Applied fillet of tank sealant to air ramp

Connie was unavailable for some final work in the landing gear boxes today so I completed one quick task and then spent the remainder of the day mowing grass (OH JOY!). The task was to mix up some tank sealant and apply it to the edges of the air ramp where they meet the left and right most forward fuselage skins. This keeps any oil from the engine compartment from seeping under the skins.

I followed Van's suggestion about using a plastic bag with the corner cut to run a bead of sealant along the seam and then a popsicle stick to smooth the fillet. I used a plastic bag like the ones used to decorate cakes but I would suspect a std ziploc freezer bag would woork better. The cake type bags are conical in shape and it's tough to get the sealant all they way down to the pointy end of the bag. It would probably be easier using a square ziploc bag (jsut my two cents).

Anyway, the fillets look ok. I will wait overnight until the selant sets up a little and then do a little minor clean-up along the edges with a razor blade. Actually, I may wait more than a day. I don't want to ruin a fillet that looks pretty good.
