Brief Description:  Riveted the left front fuselage skin

The task today was to rivet the left front fuselage skin. All the rivets have been set with the exception of the number 4 flush rivets that pass through the landing gear weldment.

However, I did begin setting the rivets in the right front skin that are common with the landing gear weldment. Actually, these rivets set easily but getting the bucking bar in position was a real challenge. With your hand up in the gear box and in low light under the fuselage, it is hard to get the bucking bar positioned. I still have a few of these rivets to set on the right side and all the weldment rivets on the left.

After getting most of the riveting completed on the front skins, I moved on to the left mid-cabin skin. The rivets in the upper longeron have been set and I will begin the remainder of the rivets in the next shop session.

So far, the fuselage skins are looking good. Connie is doing an excellent job with the rivet gun. We could go a lot faster if I could handle the bucking bar better. You have heard the saying that if you want to be a lumberjack you have to learn how to handle your end of the log? Well, if you want to be an RV builder, you have got to learn to handle your bucking bar! That's my words of wisdom for today.
