Brief Description: Priming fuselage parts - part 3
The shop session today was spent priming fuselage skins as well as lower and mid fuselage longerons.
My current process is to wipe the skins with MEK to remove any oil residue, lightly scuff with a scotchbrite pad (just enough to remove glossy surface), wipe clean with acetone (evaporates quickly), and then prime with sef-etching duplicolor.
I ordered additional primer from Advanced Auto but unfortunately, it probably won't arrive until next week. I have enough to complete the lower longerons but not enough the get all the interior surfaces of the forward fuselage assembly primed before the temperatures begin to drop. Guess I will have to hope for another day of warm weather after the primer arrives. I can get my shop warm enough to work through the winter months but not warm enough to paint.
