Brief Description:  Birthday presents for granddaughters

I have weeks to fill before my fuselage kit arrives. Thankfully, there is no shortage of household projects to complete. First up, are presents for two of my granddaughters who will be turning nine years old in the next couple of weeks. The girls are twins and both have started a collection of American Girl dolls. Apparently, the dolls have no place to sleep so Mackenzie and Ashley have asked for some triple tier bunk beds. Rather than ordering the factory made or special order beds, I decided to fabricate some of my own design in the shop. Like airplane projects, nothing is ever inexpensive. In this case, I had to pick up (6) 1"x2"x6' poplar slats, (1) colonial trim strips, (1) 2'x1/4"x4' plywood panel, wood screws, wood glue, and some wood filler to build just one bed. A miter saw, drill press, and table saw made the project fairly easy but even so, it took seven hours start to finish. Even little projects take time when you have to make your own plans and come up with dimensions without having the actual dolls to measure (relied on Kentucky windage).
