In this work session I worked on completing the upper rivets on the right and left ailerons. I began by priming the exterior of the left and right aileron balance weights using a self etching primer. I then assembled the counterbalance weight and leading edge ribs. I followed that up by installing and riveting in place the leading edge understructure, and the end ribs.
This is the point where I found the errors in the building sequence in the leading edge. And had to use on an offest rivet set to install the AN470AD4-6 rivets attaching the leading edge rib to the spar. The first rivet was a learning experience to install, did not go in well, I ended up marring the head of the 470 rivet and the shop head wasn't perfect (but acceptaable). The rest of the rivets went in well, and the last ones were actually enjoyable to install.
I then re-read the instruction, behind my progress and ahead of my progress, to complete the work for the evening and installed all the rivets on the upper surface of the ailerons.
