Brief Description: Fuel Tank Sealing, Day 2: Two Right Tank Ribs
In this work session I sealed the inboard two fuel tank ribs in the right fuel tank. I initially mixed up 3.0 oz of fuel sealant and applied that to two inboard ribs, so that I would be working away from the small opening between the ooutboard most rib and the outboard tank wall.
I was able to successfully set all of the rivets, however is was a messy experience to say the least. I had to upsize one rivet to an oops rivet due to a misshapen dimple after a failed riveting effort. I also onstalled a small skin doubler to help the rivet set straight.
Overall it was really a dispiriting experience. I was glad to get the work done, however, it was a time and energy taxing process. Six hours to set two ribs and the multitude of equipment wipedowns and glove swaps left me trying to figure out a better way to accomplish this task.
