Cut and Formed the Glareshield. In spite of the large awkward nature of the part, this was not horribly difficult. It was way to big for the bandsaw, though, so I made the cuts using my trusty Dremel tool with a metal cutting wheel. This allows better precision than the saw anyway, it just takes more time.
I should have done more research before cutting this part; a lot of people make thier instrument panels straight by leaving the rear side of the glareshield uncut. The purported advantages are less instrument glare and more room behind the panel for instrument clearance.
No big deal, I have flown in a Waiex with the factory angled panel and thought it was fine; but it would have been smart to look at all the options before cutting. Worst case, I might have to make a glareshield extension to shield the instruents from glare if it's a problem.
