Brief Description: Forward Fuselage Crossties and Lower Firewall
I installed and pilot drilled the upper and lower forward fuselage crossties. As these set the forward fuse dimensions, they need to be correct. I had a really hard time getting the upper to bit right and simultaneously set fuselage width at 32" per plans.
I had to trim a lot away from the crosstie, and there is still a gap on the sides (see pic 3). Sonex says this is not an issue as long as the wide this correct, but I still wish the fit was better. The lower crosstie fit in place perfectly.
I then set the lower firewall in place. It took some doing to get it in straight with no twist and dimensioned correctly with the crossties, but once pilot drilled in place it looked great and even on both sides.
