Brief Description:  Wingtip work

Before finishing and installing the wingtip, I need to make the installation platform for the Nav light. After the wingtip is solid fibre glassed to the wing there is no access to the inside for nuts and cables, therefore all has to be considered before so in case of a replacement of the light it will not turn into a nightmare exercise.
First I made a template for the light out of 5 mm Alu leftover this is used for a drill jig and also to fibreglass a flat mounting surface onto the wingtip side.
For further progress I needed some size #6 nutplates and screws for the light bracket. A special order to Aircraftspruce with a few more little bits was made.
Now I basically stuck till I get the nutplates.
Some trial fit of the winglet also showed that the supplied rib needs some trimming otherwise a bulge on the wingtip is visible. I made a sample rib to trim and shape to fit first, multiple cycles were required to get the right size.
As last I fibre glassed the cover stripe for the wing- fuse gap. A layer of wide tape and a layer of small tape will give the right width for the stripe and also enough space for some paint on the fuse.
All covered with wax provides easy removal.
Two layers of fabric are strong enough and flexible enough, I hope!
