Brief Description:  Laid out sill and hung storage area ceiling

I haven't had an entry for almost a month due to being busy at work, family events, and a business trip/vacation with the family for a week in California.

This project isn't really for the the shop, but it will allow me to get all of the yard equipment and kids stuff out of the garage (airplane factory). We have a pretty good sized deck and I will be enclosing an area 8' x 16' complete with siding and an overhead door to match my garage doors. That's the plan anyway, we'll see over the next weeks how it works out.

This weekend my buddy Chris came over to help hang the recycled plastic sheets I bought for the ceiling to prevent water from getting in from the deck above. I wanted to put corrugated steel under it, but Menard's had a three week lead time and had none in stock. While roaming around the store I found this plasic that is water proof and OK for exterior use. It weighs a ton and was $50 bucks per sheet. I didn't want to wait because, hey, we have an airplane to build.

I didn't think it would be as big of a job to hang the stuff as it was, however. The deck is completely out of square, none of the joists are 16" on center, and the plastic sheets weigh a ton, can't stress that enough. It took Chris, my wife Diane, and daughter Justine about six trys to finally hang the first sheet. Up and down to redrill pilot holes because nothing lined up. I almost had a mutany, but finally we got the first one up. After the fourth one and a couple hours at least later, it was done.

I put down treated 2 x 4's for the bottom sill plate on the concrete and used Tapcon's to anchor them down along with some liquid nails for added measure. My buddy Jerry the welder turned me on to Tapcon's, blue masonry screws that work well.

Anyway, a lot of rambling for a lot of screwing around and not much progress. Not sure if I'll ever see Chris again.
