Brief Description:  Oshkosh 2011

Colten, Tanner and I attended Oshkosh Airventure from Wednesday through Sunday. We camped at Sleepy Hollow Farm Campground which is adjacent to the convention grounds. It costs more per night than EAA's Camp Scholler, but had electricity and water. The a/c in the camper made the hot and sticky nights much more comfortable. I think we'll be staying there again.

We listened to a presentation by Col Bud Anderson about his experiences in WWII flying P-51's. The next day we went to his book signing at the museum and he signed a model P-51 wing for Tanner, an Old Crow poster for Colten, and a pencil drawing of a P-51 for me. While waiting in line at the book signing, we listened to a presentation by Gen Chuck Yeager. Another time while in the warbirds shop, we saw Bob Hoover signing his book. My boys are getting older now and having them be able to listen to these heros in person is an experience they won't forget. They are the last generation that will get that opportunity which is sad because there are so few true heros that get recognition anymore.
