Brief Description:  Visited San Diego and toured USS Midway

I was fortunate to have a work related trip to San Diego this week and managed to tour the carrier USS Midway which is located in the bay there. It was an awesome experience and I highly recommend taking the time to go through it if you are in the area.

The Midway is a special ship and served from 1945 until 1992 when it was retired. It entered service the week after the Japanese surrendered and also launched the first Navy planes that attacked Iraqi targets during the first gulf war.

I have been thinking of paint schemes for my RV-7 for several years now and I always come back to a military type scheme. The A-6 Intruder as shown in image 2 is a two-place, side by side aircraft and is somewhat short and stubby like the RV-7. It also has a sliding canopy which adds to the similarity. We'll see, it is just a thought for now.

Google the Midway to learn more about her and the part she and her crew played in keeping our country free for so many years.
