Brief Description:  Started riveting rudder spar and nut plates.

This morning I started riveting the reinforcement plates and nut plates to the rudder spar. The nut plates have female threads and will hold the threaded rod end bearings that the rudder will mount to from the vertical stabilizer.

In the picture below you can see a rivet that did not have the manufactured head sitting flush when it was squeezed. This is not a good condition and can effect the strength of the assembly. In the next picture you can see where it has been drilled out and replaced with a properly set rivet. I have had to do this a few times for various reasons and am getting good at drilling them out. If it is not right, I replace it, simple as that.

I didn't get all that much done this morning, but it feels good to be putting everything on the rudder together for the last time. It will be cool to mount it to the vertical stabilizer and hang it in the bar as an assembly.
