Brief Description:  Finished VS and made a "flying bench"

This morning I fixed the dinged up rivets as shown in the first picture. They turned out good with just a few hits from the rivet gun and didn't need to be drilled out. After that I finished riveting the skin to the rear spar. I also riveted the end ribs to the spar with driven and pulled rivets as called out in the plans. The vertical stabilizer is done, another milestone!

I took the HS down of the wall in the bar and set it on the work bench and then placed the VS in the approximate location it will sit. There is no doubt what I am building now. Prior to setting it up, I pulled all the blue plastic off since the parts are done except for the fiberglass tips. I had read where the plastic can trap moisture and cause corrosion of the skins over time. I probably won't be installing the tail feathers to the fuselage for a few years, so corrosion from the plastic is a risk. The surfaces should be safe hanging on the wall so long as my kids don't hit them with a pool ball or cue.
