Brief Description: Visited Cleaveland Tools in Boone, IA
Today I was driving through Iowa for work and stopped at Cleaveland Tools in Boone. I met Annette and she took my order once I figured out what I wanted. I had a list started, but wasn't planning on stopping in person but a detour on I-35 because I-29 was closed due to flooding put me in the area.
I bought a screw checker plate that will size any screws and bolts I will be using for the airplane. Identifying the correct diameter and thread pitch will be helpful. I also bought some washer wrenches which will come in handy when installing washers in tight quarters like on the empennage and ailerons. The final items were an adapter ring for the light in the back of the rudder, a back riveting bucking bar that will be used on the fuselage and a tube of torque seal to mark items that have been torqued.
Marshall showed me around the shop where he makes the dimple dies and rivet sets in addition to many other parts. He also showed me the area where they make aircraft interiors. Very nice people and a pleasure to do business with.
