Brief Description:  fine tuning the attachment of master cylinder

Now that I have selected the center-mounted design for the brake master cylinder with the pressure plate, the next task is to decide on the exact placement of the pressure plate and the anchor point for the brake master cylinder activation rod. There are several considerations that affect this assembly. the rudder pedals need to be inclined 75 degrees aft relative to the floor, while the brake pedals need to be inclined forward 25 degrees relative to the vertical member of the rudder pedals. This is to enable the rudder pedals to move forward and backward without activating the brakes, but preserve the ability to activate the brakes by rotating the brake pedals forward relative to the rudder pedals. The other consideration is to insure that the rudder pedals have enough travel to make sure the rudder travel of 25 degrees right and left of center. There are a lot of variable points in this assembly....placement of the pressure plate with actuator rod attach point, plus the attachment point of the master cylinder to the back of the brake pedal, and finally the length of the actuator rod. This is a fascinating puzzle, but I do feel I am close to solving it. All of these pedal and brake parts are pre-assembled onto a mounting plate, and in turn that mounting plate is screwed into the bottom of the plane, at a point that matches my length of leg. This will be a major milestone when that gets done.
