Brief Description: removal of cowl plug shaping material from engine
|
|
It was quite a job removing this shaping material from the engine. It was a huge mess of saran wrap, hardware cloth, duct tape, body filler, expoxy slurry, dry micro, and sheet rock mud. It was so much work to build it that I hated to tear it up, but it was also a big relief to see it go. I strapped the cowl halves back into place around the engine, Not because I am tempted to use it as a cowl, it's much too rough for that. I just wanted to verify that it basically captures the shape I am aiming for, so I can use these pieces as molds for laying up the final cowl. It looks reasonably close, but I wish I had left just a little more clearance between the inside of the cowl and the tops of the rocker arm covers.....need to figure out how to modify the molds to allow that.
