Brief Description:  wrapped the engine in some test fabric to see outl

I used some old discarded car cover fabric to wrap up the engine and begin to visualize what my plug mold should look like. This is very helpful to plan for a cowling shape that facilitates removal from the mold. It also focuses my attention on the shape of the lower cowl, and forced me to run some calculations on the required size of the exhaust area at the bottom of the firewall. And by exhaust I don't mean the exhaust pipes of the engine, I mean the exhausting of cooling airflow after it has been channelled through the cylinder barrel and cylinder heads baffling system, as well as cooling airflow over the rocker arm covers. I won't enter all of those calculations here, but in summary I will say that the sum of all of my planned inlets is about double the area of the "cheeks" shown in the plans, for exhausing some of that air along the sides of the fuselage. So I need about the same area as the area of the cheeks, to be provided in the opening at the bottom of the firewall. this is much more than I had been visualizing, so i am glad I did run those calculations at this time. Next time I get out to work on this project, I will cut out a plywood template that represents the required opening, and this will form the aft edge of the plug mold, and determine the shape of the bottom cowl.
