Brief Description:  mounting engine on firewall

Today I mounted the engine on the firewall using the new engine mount I just finished welding on. Even though I was very carefull to test-fit it several times during the welding, it was a bit of a struggle. I think this is because there was a little bit of flex in the assembly that allowed it to fit both the engine and the firewall individually. but once it was bolted to the firewall, it became a lot less flexible, and getting the last engine bolt installed took awhile. But it is on now and I am very glad of that. While I was moving it from the workbench to the mount, I took that opportunity to weigh the engine, including the intake manifold, carburetor and air filter shown piled on top in the picture. The weight was 206.0. Once I had everything installed, I noticed that the corner of the battery shelf is closer than I would like to an electrical connector on the starter motor. So I am going to have to make a diagonal cut to remove that corner of the battery shelf this is not a big problem, the battery will have plenty of room. I just wish I had visualized that connetor proximity problem and cut the shelf corner before I bolted it on. The good news is I did bolt it rather than rivetting it.
