Brief Description: preparing practice pieces and maybe one real piece
I tried awhile back to weld the aileron control belcranks onto the 5/8 ths tube that the control stick is mounted on. I found it very difficult to get a good weld between the thin metal of the belcranks and the thicker metal of the tube. So I cut out a bunck of practice pieces of a short length of tubing with a little colar around it, to practice that joint specifically. I also started on the control stick itself, where the welds are simpler and easier. Depending on how well this turns out, it will either be another practice piece, both for practicing welding, and also for drilling on this 4130, which is very tough and goes through drill bits pretty fast.
