Brief Description:  making my third riveting practice piece

Since I still need a lot of polishing up on my riveting, I made another practice piece with areas that mimic the spar carry through, the wing root, and the outboard wing section. I made an effort to re-use my second practice piece by drilling out some of the rivets to re-do them, but that did not go well either. In previous attempts at removing rivets, I have found that the standard technique works really well...center punch the head, drill through it with a # 31 drill bit, pop off the head and tap out the shaft. This works great on rivets that are just joining two thin sheets, but in these laminated bar assemblies it just doesn't work for me. The heads come off fine, but driving the shafts out of the holes just doesn't happen. The bottom line for me, is to keep practicing on these simulated spars until I can feel confident I won't need to drill out any rivets on my actual spars.
