I did the final three rough cuts on the taper section of the wing spar caps. Most of these rough cuts were made using a hand-held jig saw, although on one or two of them I skipped the jig saw and did the first cut using the router. It seemed to work out better to do a rough cut with the jig saw, followed by a fine-tuning cut using the router with a flush-trim laminate bit. I clamped on a section of 1" angle for the router bit bearing to run on. These spars still require final smoothing using a file, fine sandpaper, or scotchbrite wheel. They also need one final cut, the little 2-inch clearance notches for the wing attach bolts at the root.
