While riveting the front spar reinforcing angle HS-710, a few rivets did not set as well as I wanted. They were drilled out and replaced without too much problem. One rivet started to bend over a tad and I decided to remove and replace it. The rivet did not come out cleanly and I decided to drill out the shank with a #40 drill bit. Due to the angle (and not paying close enough attention to both sides), it resulted in 1.75 holes on the angle piece.
Called Vans and they said that the HS-710/714 are critical as they are carrying the load across and the only fix is to replace the angle. As far as the HS-702 spar, the slight oval will be OK (picture 2). The rivet will fill that hole.
Parts are on the way and the project is on hold a few days.
