Brief Description:  Finished Drilling Horiz. Stab. Section

A very long day. I thought that the final drilling and deburring would only take a few hours (wrong). After fitting the new HS-405 rib I still managed to get a slightly oblong hole using the angle drill. I'm really starting to hate that tool (couldn't be the operator???). I think that I have been moving the drill slightly while drilling. Anyway, I redrilled for a -5 rivet and that will fix that.

One item to watch for is the 710 and 714 spars and the 702 where they overlap. Make sure that the counter sink on the 710/714 and dimple on the 702 are fitting. My tech counselor pointed that out. Initially depth was checked with a 426 rivet and it was flush, however, the dimpled 702 skin needs a little more room on the counter sink. Just a trim and fit to get the pieces to lay flat.

One last check to make sure all of the holes had been final drilled on both sides of each stabilizer.

Final drilled the remaining outboard holes on the 710-/714 spars.

Kind of dis-heartening to pull it all apart again, but the next phase will be interesting and will result in parts being permanently mated.
