Brief Description:  Finished drilling all holes in HS609 / 603

Received remainder of Cleco's from Vans. Finished drilling HS-609 PP in place with HS-603 PP.

Tried to buy only as much as needed in the tool category but found myself short very quickly. So work stopped for a few days until my cleco order from Van's arrived. At 38 cents a pop, Van's is the best deal going. Everyone else was about 44 cents per. It adds up when your looking at 50, 100 and 300 or more.

Have been using a cordless drill so far but an air drill is definetly desired. Spins faster and will make a rounder hole. Some of cordless drills tend to be heavy and bulky.

I am using small sections of 2 X 4 to support the spar. This worked out just fine. Unfortunately I did not leave well enough alone. Remembering some of the footage from the Orndorf videos I decided to back track and tried to mount and drill the rear spar and reinforcement strips directly into the MDF after most of the drilling was complete. I did not think out the alignment issue as well as I should have. I started at one end with the parts laying flat on the MDF bench top and started re-drilling and mounting directly to the MDF. About 3/4 ths of the way down the spar I noticed that it was taking a small nudge to make the holes line up. It was getting worse towards the end (imagine that). Pulled everything apart to inspect the holes. They were starting to go out of round and would have been terrible at the end. Long story short, I ordered 2 new rear spars and started over.

I might have been able to salvage the spar but I did not want to take a chance on a critical structural component. The new spars came in at the end of the week and it only took a short time to re-drill everything.
